Coming Home Soon

Just came back from a bit of a visit to Lichtenstein through Austria and Switzerland. Opportunities to share Jesus as well as times of stretching were before us. Took a chair-lift to the top of one of the mountains in the Alps and then hiked down to a town in the valley. The serpentine road down the mountains was another experience – our driver didn't use brakes so as not to burn them out, but relied on gearing down. A WOW experience for sure!

Today's our last full day in Germany. Church and visitations are before us. Then it's time to pack and get ready to return to Canada tomorrow. We are really looking forward to seeing our families again. Six weeks away is a long time. We know there's much to do when we get back home. And yet, we are already thinking about our next trip back here.

Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

Video

Here's the promised video. It was taken during our first few days up here in northern Germany. It was a good reminder to take time to reflect (selah) on instructions and do them. A very scriptural principle. You'll notice that sections of the building went up, then down, then up, then down, and then finally up. "Twas a time to practice patience :-) Was also a great time to share the Word - during construction as well as during breaks!

A Normal Week :-)

Last week to be up north. On Sunday, Gerhild preached about "What Name does your God have?". She used Psalm 23 and taught the character traits of God to encourage the people to draw closer to their Shepherd, Jehovah Rohi.

Last night attended our last "house group" at Peter's house (sounds so Biblical). They meet every two weeks and are going through the Gospel of John. Spent quite some time discussing John 17:9-21 and what it means to be "one in the Lord".

This morning Gerhild and Heidi attended a Ladies' Breakfast in the Arche. Topic? God's love and what it should look like in our lives.

Tonight it's off to Horstedt to a "house group" where believers are gathering to hear what the "Canadians" have to share. Looking forward to meeting with these brothers and sisters in the Lord. We met them for the first time last year and were so blessed by their love for God.

The rest of the week is looking exciting as well. How blessed we are to be over here, knowing that God is leading our footsteps.

Strongholds Coming Down

We are reminded, over and over, that it is God's will that the Gospel be preached to all people (Matthew 28 and Mark 16) because God loves the WHOLE world (John 3:16).

Old Testament and New alike.

Ezekiel 18:23, “Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked?” saith the Lord Jehovah, “and not rather that he should return from his way and live?” parallels 2 Peter 3:9, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

This week is being spent re-establishing relationships, bringing the Gospel message where ever we go. Strongholds in people's lives are being broken. The truth always wins.

Andy preached at the Arche (translated “the Ark”) last Sunday. The message was “Do You Understand What You Are Reading?” with the scripture from Acts 8:30. Psalm 3 uses the word “Sela” to urge the reader to stop and meditate on what was just read. As well, the reminder that God put the five ministry gifts (apostle, prophet, evangelist, teacher, and pastor) in the church to teach and edify for the perfecting of the saints from Ephesians 4:11-12 was used.

This coming Sunday, Gerhild is preaching at the Arche as well. Sermon title: “Welchen Namen hat dein Gott?” ? ? ?

In the meantime, we're enjoying Spring here in northern Germany. The flowers are in full bloom, even though it's quite cool in the evenings.

Settling In

Another week is almost past. Continuing on, following the path where God leads. Attended a home Bible Study, Ladies' Breakfast meeting, visitations, and sharing the Word wherever and whenever possible.

Please continue to pray for Germany. From Campus Crusade for Christ the following quote is a true but sad statement:

"Spiritual Climate of Germany
The Church is widely perceived as irrelevant and marginalized. There is increased open hostility to anything Christian, and the occult and a New Age worldview are on the rise, but German Evangelicals are slowly growing in numbers."

Looking forward to Sunday at the Arche-Nordfriesland where Andy will be ministering.

So thankful that the Lord says in Isaiah 55:11, "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth : it shall not return unto me void , but it shall accomplish that which I please , and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

Another Week Flew By

We've been up north now for one week. The time sure flies by. Been keeping busy - more with serving and helping - video will follow.

We've been invited to minister the next three Sundays in the same church we spoke in last year. We'll be attending some of their mid-week services as well. Looking forward to this opportunity to share God's Word.

In the meantime, taking the opportunities that God presents, to talk, to minister, to pray, and to encourage those He brings across our paths. We have GOOD news to share.

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise . . . not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

Up North

We've arrived up north after a 7-hour car trip (average cruising speed of 150 KPH - how we love the German Autobahn!)

We were given some CD's to listen to as we traveled. What a blessing they were! We were again reminded of the scriptures written in the previous post. "Do we truly believe?" Because, if we claim to be Christians who believe the Word, we should be doing what Christ told us to do. If we're not doing what Christ told us to do, are we Christians who really believe? Interesting question - - -

What kind of things were we told to do? Some examples are: going into all the world to preach the Gospel, laying hands on the sick, casting out demons, praising continually, praying continually, thanking God continually. Do we?

As we settle into our apartments, we are being encouraged to seek God as never before. All around us we see sickness and apathy for the Word. BUT, God's Word doesn't return void. God's Word is POWERFUL! And, we are here to proclaim the Word, expectant that the Lord will confirm the Word with signs following (Mark 16:20).

We've Arrived

We're back and eager to see what God is doing here in Germany.

We arrived Tuesday and were again blessed to have Heidi's brother pick us up in Frankfurt. Blessed again, as we are staying with him and his wife in Erlenbach (about 1 hour east of Frankfurt) for the week and they are also blessing us with a vehicle. God is so good!

The men have just left to do some visitation - God is opening doors for ministry - we just need to let Holy Spirit lead and be willing to follow.

On the weekend, we head up north where we'll be headquartered for the next month.

Was again reminded of the following Scriptures from Acts 10:38 and John 14:12 (Amp):

"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and curing all who were harassed and oppressed by the power of the devil, for God was with Him . . . if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father."

The question is: "Do we truly believe this?"

It's That Time Again!

We're in the final stages of getting ready before boarding the plane to start our 2011 Ministry Tour to Germany.

This is the first time the team will be coming in the spring. Usually it's been summer or fall. For some of us, it will be the first time we'll see Germany in the spring since we've been children.

Spring. What a wonderful time of year as we see the re-birth of nature around us. Even with the snow that came unexpectedly yesterday in this cold part of Canada, the buds of the crocuses are starting to show, and soon will be in full bloom.

What a vivid reminder that we, too, have had a rebirth.

It's this rebirth - the need to be born again - that makes us come to Germany - to share this Good News. It's the Great Commission that gives us the direction to GO. To go into all the world.

We are so looking forward to this trip - eagerly and expectantly anticipating what God will do!

As we have sporadic internet access depending on where we are, we will be keeping you up-to-date with what's happening.

Blessings to you all!
